Who we help
Edeliza
We have had the privilege of knowing Edeliza, affectionately known as Liza, for approximately ten years. We met her at the Paco Park Oasis Hotel in the Philippines, in May 2013 when we commenced an AFL football competition known as the Manila Cup. At that time the hotel was owned by David Mitchell, a fellow director of The Football Club Pty Ltd and Tim Ingram. Liza demonstrated her exceptional skills as the manager of the "My Kitchen" restaurant at the hotel which won the Best Restaurant in Manila awards in both 2015 and 2016.
In addition to her professional achievements, Liza is a devoted parent to her daughter Queene. Over the years we have provided financial support for Queene's primary, secondary and tertiary education. Queene is currently in the second year of a science degree at Silliman University in Manila, majoring in Foreign Affairs and Governance.
We wholeheartedly recommend Queene and Liza as potential beneficiaries to The Football Club Foundation in 2024.
Flora Mae Gimal
We first met Flora Mae Gimal at the Paco Park Hotel Christmas party in Manila in December 2018. We were most impressed by her resilience and strength to overcome serious challenges and adversities faced by her from a young age. In late 1993 her mother tragically sold her for 700 pesos. Compounding the hardships her birth certificate contained a misspelled surname and she has never had the opportunity to meet her biological father. Her relationship with her biological mother is limited having met only twice. Unfortunately, her foster parents, a source of support, passed away in 2018 and 2019.
Driven by a commitment to make a positive impact, we took tangible steps to improve Flora Mae's life. We facilitated the acquisition of a house for her in Mindanao, a southern island in the Philippines. When a storm damaged her home, we provided financial assistance for repairs. Furthermore, we supported her entrepreneurial spirit by financing alterations to her residence which enabled her to establish a food business and offer essential goods like rice to the local community.
Flora Mae is the caring mother of a five-year-old daughter named Juliannah who was diagnosed with ADHD and autism a couple of years ago. In our ongoing efforts to empower Flora Mae's family, we have covered the costs of Juliannah's medical treatments and supported her education in a special needs learning school. As Juliannah prepares to embark on her formal education journey, we wholeheartedly recommend The Football Club Foundation to consider funding her educational and medical expenses in 2024.
Nicharee Promkang
We met Nicharee Promkang in February 2019 at a 70th birthday celebration in Bangkok.
Nicharee resides in the northeastern countryside of Thailand, near the Laos border in the farming village of Thabok, close to the city of Nong Khai. Her life is a testament to resilience as she navigates the challenges posed by the pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis. As the primary caregiver for her five-year-old daughter, Peang, and her parents, Nicharee has encountered financial difficulties. Despite these challenges, she has persevered with the support of her aunty and uncle, to whom she is indebted. This debt is secured over her home and Nicharee now faces the dual responsibility of repaying this debt and ensuring her daughter receives an education.
In recognition of Nicharee's determination to provide for her family, we recommend The Football Club Foundation financially assist her in 2024. Specifically, we propose supporting Nicharee in repay her secured debt and contribute to her daughter's education. This endeavour aligns with our commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals facing adversity. By extending a helping hand, we aim to empower Nicharee to overcome these challenges and create a brighter future for her family.
Jenny Grace Adorna
Jenny Grace Adorna, a resilient 31-year-old Filipino woman who also has remarkable strength and dedication. Jenny is the youngest in a family of seven siblings and her life has been marked by challenges and a steadfast commitment to her family. At the age of 21 her older sister burdened with the responsibility of seven children herself and a newborn turned to Jenny for help. Despite having three children of her own, Jenny selflessly agreed to care for her sister's youngest and second youngest child as her sister could not afford their upbringing. Unfortunately, when Jenny's relationship ended, she found herself raising five young children independently and with limited support from her family. Tragically, her father passed away when she was six years old and her mother left her and her siblings to be cared for by relatives.
In the Philippines individuals like Jenny receive no financial support from the government. Jenny is currently employed as a tracking administrator for a cargo company in Manila and earns 25,000 pesos a month. Despite these challenges Jenny is resolute in providing the best for her children with a strong emphasis on ensuring they receive a quality education.
Impressed by Jenny's determination we recommend The Football Club Foundation assists Jenny in educating her five children in 2024 by covering school fees as they fall due. Recognizing the significance of education in their lives, Jenny commits to providing the Foundation with full copies of each child's school reports every half-year. The Foundation, in turn, plans to showcase these reports on its website, fostering transparency and allowing donors to follow the educational journey of Jenny's children over the next decade or so. This collaboration embodies our shared commitment to empowering individuals and ensuring that education remains a beacon of hope for the future.
